Pearls have always fascinated people and have been charged with meaning since ancient times. In Central Europe, for example, they are particularly viewed as the gemstones of the goddess of love Venus, who according to legend is “born of foam”, that is, similar to the pearl of a shell. Representations of this scene have come down to us, for example, in the famous Venus painting by Sandro Botticelli.
