    Victorian Revival
Victorian gold ring with emerald & diamonds, around 2000
    description
The sensitivities, desires and dreams of a society can not only be read from the most modern phenomena - but also from the past epochs of history that are newly of interest and interpreted for the present. Around 1800, for example, stylistic elements from classical antiquity embodied enlightenment ideals such as education, freedom and rationality throughout Europe. Then around the middle of the century, during the reign of the French Emperor Napoléon III., Buildings, furniture and jewelry in the style of the late 18th century were knotted. Century to the pre-revolutionary period, created an idea of continuity. It was very similar in the last third of the 20th century. Century with jewelry in the style of the Victorian era. They countered the cool postmodernism, which deliberately avoided ornament, with a warm, nostalgic note. The present emerald ring was created as a reminiscence of this era. Probably cast from an original piece of jewelery from that time, but at the same time it takes into account the customs of the present: If at that time he had still surrounded the central emerald with pearls, here it is diamonds that frame the green gemstone. As a homage to the past, some of the diamonds are from older stocks that were cut around the turn of the century. The ring is in very good condition. We were able to discover it in London, where it was probably also created.

    about us
    Hofer antique jewelry
arose from the joy of beautiful things. It all started with my grandma, who was a lady who liked to adorn herself. She could tell something about each of her pieces of jewelery and when she opened her jewelery box, a world opened up: fond memories and touching stories connected with the pieces marked the highlights of a lived life. Based on these experiences, over the years a passion grew in me to deal with these small and always very personal objects.
