M A Hadley Small Chick Ashtray Dish Lot of Three Vintage American Pottery.
These three little gems are from my mother’s Hadley collection that she began in 1964 when she got married. I am unsure what they are. I thought at first they were ashtrays. My mother has never smoked but she loves pottery and Hadley and if they are indeed ashtrays, I’m certain she bought them because she thought she would used them for something else. They are all lovely and clean and signed except for the one pictured that appears to have been bopped on the head. The damage appears to be more a glaze/flake issue - it is stable, but would definitely absorb some paleobond to stabilize it permanently and prevent further damage. These would make charming personal salt cellars at each place setting.
